Controls Engineer | Siemens TIA Portal | 9-Month Contract | £60 p/h | Outside IR35 | UK-Wide Travel | Expenses Paid | 5 days on site

We're recruiting for an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer to support the delivery of automation projects across the UK water and wastewater sector. This is an initial 9-month contract operating Outside IR35, with all travel, accommodation, and business expenses fully covered.

Working on-site at customer locations throughout the UK, you'll be responsible for developing, commissioning, and supporting Siemens-based control systems on a range of major infrastructure projects. You'll collaborate with project teams from design through to final handover, ensuring automation solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and modify PLC and HMI software using Siemens TIA Portal.
Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), system commissioning and fault diagnosis.
Support the integration of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems while optimising existing control solutions.
Work closely with engineers, site teams and end clients throughout project delivery.
Produce and review technical documentation, ensuring compliance with project and industry standards.

Required Experience

Strong experience programming Siemens S7-1200 & S7-1500 PLCs using TIA Portal.
Proven background delivering automation or controls projects within the water or wastewater industry.
Hands-on commissioning experience on live process plants.
Knowledge of HMI and SCADA integration.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs and control system documentation.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites nationwide.
