IP Services Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced IP Services Engineer to join a large enterprise technology environment, providing operational support across critical network services.
This is a hands-on production support role, focused on maintaining service availability, troubleshooting complex technical issues and responding to business-impacting incidents. You will work as part of an experienced technical team, taking ownership of issues through to resolution and supporting the ongoing reliability and performance of network services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational support across enterprise IP and network services.
- Act as a technical point of escalation for complex network incidents.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve business-impacting network issues.
- Support incident, problem and change management activities.
- Analyse network behaviour using monitoring, diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.
- Proactively identify potential failures, vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement.
- Support testing of disaster recovery and resilience scenarios.
- Assess technical and business impact during incidents and communicate findings clearly.
- Work with internal technical teams and external suppliers to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, runbooks and operational procedures.
- Support service improvements and operational initiatives.
- Ensure work is completed in line with established technical standards and governance.
Required Experience
- 7+ years' experience working with network technologies and protocols.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.
- Experience across routing, switching and network services.
- Strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS, HTTP/S and SNMP.
- Experience supporting load balancing or application delivery services.
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex network problems.
- Experience working within an operational, production or BAU environment.
- Experience with incident, problem and change management.
- Experience using network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of issues.
- Confidence working with technical teams, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
- A flexible approach to working with teams across different locations and time zones.

- Network-related professional certifications.
- Experience across wider infrastructure or security technologies.
