Sr. Data Platform Engineer

A fast-growing technology organization in Austin is scaling its data platform to support analytics, operational metrics, and AI workflows. The team builds reliable, scalable infrastructure for both batch and streaming data and empowers downstream engineering and analytics teams.

• Full-Time, Permanent Position
• Compensation: $165k - $200k
• Hybrid | 3 Days On-Site

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of scalable cloud data platform components for ingestion, transformation, and storage.

• Build frameworks and tools for batch, streaming, and CDC pipelines.

• Optimize and maintain data pipelines, warehouse/lakehouse performance, and observability.

• Establish CI/CD pipelines, deployment guardrails, and platform automation.

• Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and product teams to deliver reliable data products.

• Ensure platform adheres to security, compliance, and operational best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles.

• Proficiency with SQL, Python, and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Experience with modern data stack tools (Airflow, Spark, Kafka, dbt).

• Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).

• Strong problem-solving, platform architecture, and observability mindset.

Preferred

• Experience supporting AI/ML pipelines or feature engineering workflows.

• Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes.

• Experience building layered data models (Bronze/Silver/Gold) or platform abstractions.
