We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to support active construction projects involving roadway, structures (bridges, walls, culverts), utilities, and related civil infrastructure. This is a field-based, hands-on role for someone who understands construction layout and can lead survey operations in a live jobsite environment.

As Survey Party Chief, you will be responsible for all aspects of construction layout and control on site. This includes recovering existing survey control, establishing secondary control, and determining the appropriate methods and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient layout throughout the project lifecycle.

You will operate and maintain survey equipment including manual and robotic total stations, GPS, and levels, performing layout work accurately and in accordance with plans and specifications. The role requires confidence working independently while coordinating closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform construction layout for roadways, structures, utilities, and civil works

  • Recover and establish survey control and secondary control

  • Operate and maintain survey equipment (robotics, GPS, levels)

  • Ensure layout work is completed accurately and efficiently

  • Follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations

  • Lead and support field crews while maintaining productivity and quality

  • Maintain composure and accuracy in fast-paced, high-pressure environments

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Survey Party Chief or senior construction surveyor

  • Strong background in construction layout (not just boundary/ALTA work)

  • Familiarity with Topcon, Leica, and/or Trimble hardware and software

  • Strong mathematical skills, including measurement, ratios, and geometry

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity

  • Ability to lead while also working effectively as part of a team
