We are seeking a VDC Manager to develop and manage companywide Virtual Design and Construction processes and serve as the key liaison between departments and business units.
This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight, integrating VDC methodologies into projects and ensuring coordination aligns with project objectives and standards.
Develop project-specific BIM execution plans.
Support project teams with preconstruction services and facilitate timely approval of models and drawings.
Work with IT and VDC staff to maintain and improve VDC standards and 3D software tools.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements relating to VDC.
Support Business Development with RFQ preparation and presentations.
Research and recommend new technologies for implementation across the company.
Lead the development and implementation of VDC strategies aligned with company objectives, improving innovation and efficiency in project delivery.
Estimate and establish VDC modeling budgets and schedules for assigned projects, ensuring they meet project requirements and timelines.
Identify, assess, and implement advanced technologies and tools to improve VDC processes, project outcomes, and workflows.
Help project teams determine the subcontractor involvement required and serve as Model Administrator for assigned projects, supporting collaboration and alignment with project goals.
Develop or update project-specific VDC Guidelines before bidding or preconstruction services, ensuring requirements and standards are clearly defined.
Assist project teams in reviewing and approving subcontractor compliance with VDC Guidelines, including model submission schedules, updates, and documentation of as-built conditions for record sets and project closeout.
Lead clash detection and resolution, working with project teams to resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) during preconstruction.
Organize and lead VDC coordination meetings with VDC Engineers, users, and subcontractors to maintain effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate design, construction, and other project stakeholders to support clear communication and the integration of VDC methodologies.
Establish and enforce VDC best practices, quality standards, and protocols to maintain consistency and quality across projects.
Identify and mitigate risks within VDC processes, developing contingency plans and proactive approaches to address potential project challenges.
Serve as a key client liaison, communicating the value and impact of VDC while building trust and addressing client needs and expectations.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture; completion of a Construction Management Certificate Program; or equivalent education demonstrating a strong foundation in relevant disciplines.
5-8 years of progressive project experience as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, or in an equivalent role, including supervisory responsibilities.
Extensive knowledge of and direct support experience with essential software, including AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, Archicad, and related tools.
Ability to support and manage BIM and VDC production operations and promote interoffice collaboration through these platforms, working alongside IT staff, office staff, and project teams.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate teams toward project goals and maintain effective collaboration and performance.
Strong problem-solving skills and a clear sense of urgency when addressing challenges to maintain project progress.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to streamline processes, support teamwork, and communicate complex ideas clearly.
Thorough understanding of project management control systems, including scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating, to support comprehensive project oversight.
