Chief Estimator

A well-established general contractor is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating across a diverse portfolio of ground-up and renovation projects.

This hands-on leadership role oversees estimates from early conceptual budgets through schematic design, bidding, and GMP proposals. You'll guide the estimating team's workload and schedules, review cost models and general conditions, and help ensure proposals are complete, competitive, and delivered on time.

You'll also identify cost and contract risks, strengthen estimating processes and cost history, and work closely with project operations, owners, architects, and subcontractors. The role offers the opportunity to develop estimating staff and help improve preconstruction practices and project outcomes.

Ideal background:

• 15+ years of construction estimating experience

• 5+ years as a Chief Estimator or Preconstruction Director with a general contractor

• Experience leading an estimating team of at least eight people

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• Strong experience with cost estimating, RFPs, and preconstruction planning

• Familiarity with estimating software; GMP or CMAR experience is a plus
