Project Manager (Utility-Scale Solar) - Full Travel

We are actively hiring 8-12 Project Managers (PM I & PM II) to support a growing pipeline of utility-scale solar projects across the U.S. This is a full travel role with a structured rotation and strong long-term growth potential within a leading self-performing contractor.

Location & Travel

  • Full travel role across U.S. project sites (CA, TX, AZ, MN, OK, CO, Midwest)
  • Rotation: 3 weeks on-site / 5 days off (approx. 52 days off annually)
  • Travel schedule is structured and consistent, with flexibility for major life events

What You'll Be Doing

  • Oversee utility-scale solar construction projects from early execution through completion
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and financial performance
  • Lead planning efforts, including 2-6 week lookaheads to keep projects on track
  • Handle core PM responsibilities:
    • RFIs
    • Project controls
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Timecard oversight
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal teams
  • Mentor and support APMs and junior PMs, helping develop future leaders on the team

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 7-8+ years of construction management or project leadership experience
  • Proven experience working for a self-performing contractor (not Owner's Rep or Developer)
  • Prior experience in a full travel role (ideally 3+ years)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Scheduling & planning
    • Budgeting & financials
    • Project controls
  • Experience managing field execution + people leadership
  • Ability to work on a fixed travel rotation
  • Strong leadership style:
    • Team-oriented
    • Accountable
    • Growth mindset
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background/drug screening

Preferred Experience

  • Utility-scale solar (self-perform) experience strongly preferred
    • Target backgrounds: Cupertino, Rosendin, Blattner, SOLV Energy, McCarthy, Kiewit
  • Experience in wind or heavy electrical (T&D / power delivery) is also relevant
  • Experience managing union and non-union labor
  • Open to or interested in California-based projects (not required, but a plus)

What We're Looking For

This team values leaders of people, not dictators. The ideal candidate:

  • Takes ownership and accountability
  • Thrives in a team-first environment
  • Is coachable and still looking to grow
  • Can balance field execution with leadership and culture

What to Expect

  • Strong pipeline of projects kicking off in the next 2-3 months
  • Clear growth path across PM levels
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact renewable energy projects

Not the Right Fit If You

  • Only have residential or small commercial solar experience
  • Come strictly from an Owner's Rep or Developer background
  • Are not open to full travel or require location restrictions
