Senior Technical Business Analyst

Senior Technical Business Analyst | £700 - £800 (Inside IR35), dependent on experience | 6-months (initially) | London (Hybrid)

Our client is looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst to support the design and delivery of an analytics and modelling platform (AMP) across the energy markets.

The role sits within the intersection of energy fundamentals, quantative modelling and technology- playing a critical part in enabing advanced analystics and driving commerical decision making.

You'll work closely with Quant Analysts, Fundamental Analysts, Data Scientists, Developers, and Product Owners. The focus is on translating complex analytical and modelling requirements into scalable data and platform solutions

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary Business Analysis partner to Energy Analytics and Quantitative teams
• Analyse and document complex modelling and forecasting requirements
• Support the evolution of the Analytics & Modelling Platform, including modelling frameworks, data pipelines, and analytical tooling
• Define requirements for large, complex datasets (market data, weather, flows, storage, fundamentals)
• Support Python-based analytics and modelling solutions
• Contribute to model documentation standards and lifecycle governance
• Own backlog contributions, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Drive alignment between business stakeholders and engineering team

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of energy markets, including supply demand fundamentals, storage, flows and pricing
• Proven background in energy analytics and forecasting, including scenario modelling
• Experience with major energy hubs (e.g., TTF, JKM) and cross-commodity linkage
• Solid understanding of feature engineering, statistical modelling, and ML workflows
• Strong Python skills (e.g., pandas, NumPy, Jupyter)
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to simplify complex concepts
