About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong background in utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This individual will oversee all phases of construction, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience holding the Construction Manager title and a proven track record of leading large-scale renewable energy or electrical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day construction activities for utility-scale BESS projects, from site mobilization through commissioning support.
Oversee subcontractors, field personnel, and union/non-union labor to ensure adherence to schedules, safety, and quality requirements.
Monitor project performance, progress, and financials, reporting regularly to senior leadership and project stakeholders.
Enforce compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to resolve field issues and ensure design alignment.
Review construction drawings, identify conflicts or discrepancies, and coordinate solutions.
Manage site documentation including RFIs, change orders, daily logs, and progress reports.
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, inspectors, and local authorities.
Drive productivity, efficiency, and cost control across the construction lifecycle.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of direct experience as a Construction Manager, with demonstrated leadership of field teams on large-scale energy projects.
Strong background in utility-scale BESS construction; experience with solar, wind, substation, or transmission projects highly desirable.
Proven ability to manage labor crews of 100 and coordinate across multiple subcontractors.
Deep knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, and cost control.
Strong commitment to safety and quality control.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel and remain on-site for extended durations.
