We are seeking a Field Civil Engineer to support construction and infrastructure projects in Semora, North Carolina. This role is ideal for a hands-on civil engineer who enjoys working directly on construction sites and collaborating with field crews to ensure projects are executed according to engineering specifications.
The Field Civil Engineer will be responsible for site layout, construction verification, survey control, and coordination with project teams to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Perform site layout and establish survey control points for structural and civil components such as columns, walls, and roadways.
Conduct field inspections and site visits to verify construction activities align with engineering drawings and specifications.
Prepare and modify engineering documents including:
Plans
Reports
Specifications
Cost estimates
Construction schedules
Utilize engineering software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D to support project planning and design updates.
Evaluate topographical, geological, hydrological, and soil data to support site development and construction decisions.
Assist with grading, earthwork design, and stormwater drainage analysis.
Support environmental permitting efforts including NPDES and wetlands considerations.
Coordinate with field crews, project managers, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues during construction.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and project outcomes.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
4+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in site development or field engineering.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Experience with:
Site grading and earthwork design
Stormwater drainage analysis (Autodesk SSA preferred)
Roadway and paving design
Site layout (parking, access roads, ADA compliance)
Surveying concepts including topographical and boundary surveys
Geotechnical site preparation and heavy haul paving design
Environmental permitting processes (NPDES, wetlands, Phase I ESA)
