Job Title: Estimator / Project Manager
Location: Central Texas
A well-established, family-owned heavy civil contractor in Texas is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to support continued growth. This role combines preconstruction estimating with project management responsibilities, allowing the successful candidate to own projects from bid through completion. The company specializes in underground utilities, site development, excavation, paving, trenching, horizontal directional drilling, and related civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate bidding opportunities across public and private markets.
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and competitive bid proposals.
- Develop complete bid packages, including subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Present estimates and proposals to leadership and support project award efforts.
- Manage awarded projects, including budgets, schedules, cost tracking, forecasting, and client communication.
- Coordinate with field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and owners to ensure successful project execution.
- Review project performance against estimates and implement lessons learned for future bids.
- Manage change orders, documentation, reporting, and project records.
- Utilize estimating and ERP software to maintain accurate project and bid information.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating and/or project management experience within heavy civil construction.
- Experience with underground utilities, excavation, site development, paving, or related civil construction projects.
- Strong estimating, budgeting, and cost control skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with HeavyBid, ProContractor, or similar estimating software is preferred.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
