Full time
Ref: CPA080126_1767892141
We're working with a Cumbria-based technology business that builds data-driven software used by organisations across the UK and internationally. As their platform continues to scale and evolve, they're looking to add an experienced Full Stack Engineer to support both new development and long-term technical improvement.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working across the stack, contributing to technical decisions, and helping modernise established systems rather than starting from scratch.
You'll join a small, collaborative engineering team responsible for several interconnected products. The work is varied and includes feature development, platform enhancement, and preparing systems to support a wider global user base.
Typical responsibilities include:
Delivering new functionality across back-end services and front-end applications
Improving existing systems to enhance reliability, scalability and maintainability
Designing and consuming APIs to connect internal and external data sources
Contributing to technical direction, tooling choices and architectural discussions
Taking part in code reviews and sharing knowledge within the team
Supporting multiple products, including core platforms and bespoke client solutions
The ideal candidate will have strong experience building production web applications and be comfortable navigating both modern and legacy environments.
Key skills and experience:
Solid experience with PHP and a modern framework (e.g. Laravel or similar)
Front-end development using TypeScript and a framework such as Angular
Good working knowledge of MySQL and relational data modelling
Experience deploying or maintaining applications in a cloud environment (AWS preferred)
Familiarity with Git-based workflows and collaborative development practices
A pragmatic engineering mindset with a focus on delivering value
Confidence working with inherited codebases and improving them incrementally
Exposure to AI-assisted development tools
This client values thoughtful engineering, continuous learning and open collaboration. Engineers are encouraged to challenge ideas, share improvements and take ownership of their work. Time is actively set aside for learning and skills development.
£50,000-£75,000 base salary, depending on experience
33 days annual leave including bank holidays
Hybrid working with flexibility around home and office time
Modern equipment and development tooling provided
The role is hybrid, with regular collaboration days in Cumbria. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
