Overview

A global specialty chemicals company is seeking a Formulation Scientist to join its Agrochemical R&D team in Salisbury, NC. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, highly technical environment focused on developing and commercializing formulation additives for crop protection applications.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing and optimizing agrochemical formulations and a strong understanding of surfactant systems, emulsions, dispersions, and formulation stability. This position provides strong technical ownership and visibility, with opportunities to contribute directly to commercial product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize agrochemical formulations including emulsifiable concentrates (EC), suspension concentrates (SC), oil dispersions (OD), water-dispersible granules (WG), wettable powders (WP), and related systems

• Conduct laboratory formulation work including preparation, stability evaluation, and performance testing

• Support product scale-up from laboratory to pilot and production scale

• Evaluate raw materials and surfactant systems to improve formulation performance and stability

• Generate technical data, maintain accurate lab records, and prepare technical reports

• Collaborate with internal technical, commercial, and manufacturing teams to support product development and commercialization

• Provide technical support and solutions to address customer formulation challenges

• Assist in the development of new products aligned with market and customer needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or related scientific field (advanced degree preferred)

• 3-5+ years of formulation experience in agrochemicals, crop protection, pesticides, adjuvants, or related specialty chemicals

• Experience with formulation types such as EC, SC, OD, WG, WP, or similar systems preferred

• Strong knowledge of surfactants, emulsions, dispersions, and formulation stability principles

• Familiarity with agrochemical formulation testing and characterization methods is highly desirable

• Strong laboratory skills and experience with formulation scale-up

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
